Research Essays

Hydra Chronic publishes analytical essays on skin barrier function, structural
instability, and the epistemological limits of dermatological measurement.

They are not product communication.
They are not review articles.

Each essay examines a specific problem in skin biology or formulation science – and
states a position.

On the Comparability of Skin States

Different dermatological conditions cannot be meaningfully compared through visible
symptoms alone.

The structural state of the barrier must be considered.

On Temporal Drift in Skin States

If skin states are to be compared, the temporal stability of those states cannot be presumed.

Even in the absence of visible change, skin remains in continuous modulation

On the Operational Construction of Skin States

Skin does not present itself as a set of discrete, stable conditions. What is referred to
as a „skin state“ is not directly given, but established through operational
assumptions that determine which variations are regarded as negligible and which as
relevant.
